The management and staff at Dee Jay’s BBQ Ribs and Grille raised $1,000 and enough toys to fill Santa’s sleigh in just one week. The proceeds from their efforts are being donated to the Weirton Salvation Army for children in need at Christmas. Presenting and accepting the donations at Dee Jay’s on Three Springs Drive Tuesday were, from left, Dewey Guida, Dee Jay’s owner; Major Sue Dewan of the Salvation Army; Mike Guida, co-owner; and Donna Brettell and Jacqui DeFranco, managers. “This is the fourth year we’ve done this, so we decided to make it bigger than ever. We no longer do a gift exchange here, instead the managers each pick a child in need and our staff helps us to collect toys and raise money,” Brettell said. “We are very thankful to Dee Jay’s for this wonderful donation. It will make a lot of children happy,” Dewan said. Also contributing was Dewey Guida’s son, Joe Guida, also a Dee Jay’s employee.
